Although it is not clear which country has the title for oldest cat in existence, there are many contenders. One such contender may just be Lucy. Lucy might have been the oldest cat in the world after reaching her 39th birthday which made her a record breaker!

Bill, inherited Lucy when his wife’s Godmother died in 1999 but it wasn’t until an elderly aunt came to visit that he realized Lucy was really a record-breaking cat.
‘My aunt saw the cat and could not believe her eyes.’ Bill said.
The elderly aunt could remember when Lucy was a kitten and she used to scamper around the local fish and chip shop in 1972.
The family was able to confirm that she was in the fish and chip shop in the seventies. Lucy is believed to be the oldest cat in the world, despite her deafness.
Her dad said: ‘We knew she was old but not that old!’
Cat experts say she has clocked up the equivalent of 172 human years – and cats live to be about 15 on average which means Lucy has more than doubled her life expectancy, Lucy’s vet was amazed by her’s long life.
