In an incredible rescue at sea, a Thai Navy officer saved four cats from a sinking boat in the Andaman Sea. The story captured hearts around the world.
First-Class Petty Officer Wichit Pukdeelon noticed the cats huddled on a wooden beam as the vessel began to sink. Without hesitation, he jumped into the water wearing a life vest to reach them.

One by one, he carefully carried each ginger cat on his shoulders while his team used a rope to pull him back to safety. The cats, drenched and frightened, were safely brought to the Thai Navy command post on Koh Lipe, where they received food, care, and comfort.
The dramatic rescue not only highlighted the bravery of the sailor but also the Navy’s compassion for animals in distress. The story went viral internationally, earning the Thai Navy a PETA “Hero to Animals” Award for their quick thinking and selfless actions.
This heartwarming incident is a reminder that courage and kindness come in many forms and sometimes it takes one brave person to save lives, big or small.
