As scared as I was when this happened, I am the one who took these pictures because no one would believe it!

December 2024, Cedar Creek, Texas. A Central Texas woman is warning others to always turn on the bathroom light after she sat down on her toilet in the dark and was bitten by a snake hiding under the seat. Maria Jaimes said she woke up early on a Sunday morning to use the restroom and felt something bite her leg.
“The rat snake bit me in my leg when I sat on it,” she said. “Very scary situation on a Sunday morning at 4:30 a.m. with lights off.” Despite her terror, Jaimes had the presence of mind to grab her phone and photograph the snake, still coiled beneath the toilet seat. “As scared as I was when this happened, I am the one who took these pictures because no one would believe it!” she said.

Pest control experts confirmed that while snakes in toilets are rare, they can enter through roof vents or broken sewer lines. Jaimes’ husband has since installed chicken wire over their roof vents. “I just want people to be aware this happens in real life,” she said.
